ONE in a Mission Day 34 Know the Bible

Know the Bible

Opening Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, there are a lot of confusing doctrines nowadays. May the Lord help us pursue truth, understand the Bible, and live a good life pleasing to You. In the name of Jesus, Amen!

Scripture

Matthew 22:23-46

Devotion

Here are three wonderful dialogues, consisting of three questions: The first two were asked by the leaders from two Judaism sects to test Jesus; The last question was posed by Jesus to one religious leader.

The first question was about resurrection because the Sadducees did not believe in the resurrection. Jesus replied, “You are in error because you do not know the Scriptures or the power of God.” In answering the second question which was meant to test Jesus, Jesus brought out the essence of the Great Commandment. These difficult situations became opportunities for Jesus to bring out the truth. In the end through reflecting back to them, Jesus let them understand His identity as the Messiah, with a transcendent divine status much more superior than that of the earthly king David’s. Truth becomes clearer the more it is debated, regardless of the sincerity of the questioner.

Do you know the Scripture? Do you know the power of God? Will you set your heart to truly understand the Bible?

Intercessory Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father, we exalt and praise You! We love You wholeheartedly and obey Your Command to love others as we love ourselves. We are not just hearers but doers of Your Word, and respond to Your Call for us as disciples to fulfill The Great Commission. We shall be ever willing, ready and intentionally “go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation” (Mark 16:15). Help us to discern and seize all aspects of evangelism opportunities that You give us. As we go out to the cities, streets and communities to connect, communicate and relate to others, passionately preaching the Good News to the poor and healing the broken hearted with the Love of Christ, lost souls shall hear and open their hearts to receive Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord, so that no-one shall perish, but have eternal life, which is Your heartbeat as in John 3:16. Holy Spirit, please lead us and empower us with compassion, boldness and faith to preach the Gospel. Thank You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
