The amazing saving grace
Opening Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, after Jesus entered Jerusalem for the last time, He continued to describe the mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven using parables. Today’s text speaks of the amazing Grace of God’s Salvation, please help me understand its teaching. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
Scripture
Matthew 22:1-22
Devotion
The feast symbolizes the joy of the Kingdom of Heaven. Jesus used the parable of the wedding of the king’s son to bring out the amazing grace of God’s salvation. The king sent out a total of three invitations: before the banquet, when the guests did not show up, and together with the excellent menu. The absence of a guest is extremely rude and incredibly insulting, especially when the inviter is the king, and the reason for the absence is unacceptably trivial. Yet the king did not give up and kept on extending invitation! When they finally refused to come, the king did not withdraw his invitation but asked his servants to invite anyone in the street, good or evil, to come into the palace! The first group of invitees represents the Jews; and the second group, the Gentiles.
Today, the first group of invitees can be regarded as being self-sufficient and rejecting the grace of God; the second group is the needy, the sick, and the helpless, who are saved.
God’s grace, once given, will never be taken back! Can you feel that your faith journey is like attending a wonderful feast?
Intercessory Prayer
Dear Heavenly Father, please lay Your hands upon cancer patients, heal their bodies and souls to accord speedy recovery. Grant them strong faith to withstand the torture of the ailment. May Your grace be upon their relatives and friends, grant them wisdom and love to support and encourage their ill bodies; make them channels of love and care so that they can stand by the patients and face the challenges together. Lord, I pray that You will also give doctors and medical staffs wisdom and love to make the best decisions in treating and caring for the cancer patients so that they can receive the best treatment and care. In the name of the Lord, Amen!
